About the Internship Program

Application Process

Individuals interested in applying for an internship should e-mail the following documents to Dr. Linnie Carter, the president and CEO, at linnie@linniecarter.com:

  • Cover letter typed in Microsoft Word (The cover letter should address each of the bulleted items in the “Qualifications Required to Participate in the Program” section. The bulleted items should be formatted as subheadings, and information about how you meet the qualifications should be provided below each subheading. Please bold each subheading.)
  • Résumé typed in Microsoft Word
  • Three typed writing samples from the past 12 months (The samples should include the month and year they were written.)

In addition, applicants should mail their official, unopened academic transcripts to:

Application materials will be accepted all year round. Therefore, there is no application deadline.

Incomplete applications will not be considered, and individuals who submit application materials that do not adhere to the required format will not be interviewed. Also, application materials will not be returned.

After complete application materials are received, Dr. Carter will:

  • Review the applications
  • Contact the applicants to let them know if they will be interviewed for the internship program (all applicants – whether or not they are selected for an interview – will be contacted)
  • Schedule an interview with the selected applicants
  • Interview the applicants
  • Contact the interviewees to let them know if they were selected for the internship program (all interviewees – whether or not they are selected for the internship program – will be contacted)
  • Work with the interns to determine the start and end dates of the internship periods
  • Schedule an orientation session with the interns
