Carter Scholars Inc., a nonprofit organization established by Kevin and Linnie Carter, recently appointed three new board members.
- Ms. Bonnie Newman Davis is the Greensboro News & Record – Janice Bryant Howroyd Endowed Professor in the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication at North Carolina A&T State University.
- Ms. Wynette A. Richardson is an English Instructor at Halifax Community College in Weldon, N.C., and CEO of Verbal Elations Motivational Speaking Firm.
- Dr. Kim Smith is an assistant professor in the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication at North Carolina A&T State University in Greensboro, N.C.

Kevin and Linnie Carter established Carter Scholars Inc. in February 2011. The nonprofit organization provides financial assistance to elementary school, middle school, high school and college students who live in Norfolk, Va.; Richmond, Va.; Shenandoah Valley, Va.; and Greensboro, N.C.
