Dr. Linnie S. Carter, APR, the president and CEO of Linnie Carter & Associates LLC and a community college vice president, recently participated in the Leadership Harrisburg Area’s Leadership Speakers Series panel discussion on “Women in Higher Education.”
The panelists included Dr. Carter, a college president, a college vice president of human resources and a deputy vice chancellor of a university system. The women were asked the following questions and responded thoughtfully and candidly:
- What drew you to a career in higher education?
- What challenges have you faced as a woman of influence in higher education? How were you changed as a result? How have you changed the path for those who follow you as a result?
- As you look back over your professional life and personal life experiences, what was the primary motivator(s) that kept you moving forward in good times and bad times?
- To what leadership philosophy do you subscribe, and can you give an example of your leadership in action?
- What is the best piece of advice that was ever given to you, and what is the best piece of advice that you’ve passed on to another woman?
