Dr. Linnie Carter lent her knowledge to the Third Annual Women to Women Conference at Halifax Community College (HCC) in Weldon, N.C. on March 20, 2012 with her presentation on “10 Ways to Develop and Maintain Healthy Personal and Professional Relationships.”
The conference featured various female speakers and was presented by the Women of Excellence, an organization comprised of female HCC students.
Carter is a leader in the community college sphere as well as in the consulting, public relations and fundraising industries. Drawing on her experiences, Carter told her audience that she measures her success not by her extensive résumé, but by the strength of the relationships she has maintained and the personal contentment she experiences everyday.
Throughout her presentation, Carter stressed the importance of putting people first and supporting others in your life. With a strong 15-year marriage and close friendships that span decades, Carter is familiar with how critical personal relationships are to an individual’s success.
Carter also emphasized the necessity for open communication and the maintenance of boundaries in professional relationships. As a business owner and higher education leader, Carter’s clear success in her professional endeavors attests to the validity of her assertions.
With her presentation on developing successful relationships, Carter reminded her audience of the importance of harmony between the personal and professional facets of life.
